The author of this book is
a brilliant and highly competent para-professional "deprogrammer"
with broad experience combatting cults and cult-like groups. She is not,
however, a skilled writer, and recognizes that fact. She brought me enough
raw text to fill more than 500 pages, but knew that much of it was redundant,
and most of it impossible for the untrained reader to follow. While reorganizing and editing the material my chief concern was to assure that the author's meanings were unchanged. Furthermore, after editing and rewriting, the work must still "speak with the author's voice." To assure that readers, friendly and otherwise, could not fault the Biblical basis for her contentions, I researched dozens of Scriptural references in many versions of the Bible. These references were also tested by qualified theologians for aptness and accuracy. The project required about 2,000 hours of writing services over a 2-year span. |
