June, 2010 Changes and upgrades

<Above> It's still a work-in-process, but the lower fairing panels are being removed, cleaned and repainted - - thanks to the help of my 13 year-old grandson, Jordan Fowler. Jordan can get down to the six-inch working height of these panels without needing the help of a crane in order to get back on his feet.

This photo also shows the right side little driving light recently installed. These seem to provide greatly improved daytime "conspicuity," and they definitely offer improved low-beam night time visibility. They are touted as "dramatically improves long range visibility" and that may be, if by "visibility" you mean others' ability to see you; however, if it's supposed to mean your ability to see farther ahead - - - well, simply not true. These are definitely wide beam "flood light" bulbs.

They are also NOT automotive bulbs. The replacement comes from hardware stores' low-voltage high intensity lamp department; 12 volt, 55 watt, MR16.

Point being, they work okay, but just not as advertised.

The front-lower panels are yet to be done, and I'll probably mask and paint in place the narrow trim above the tail lights (and below the trunk door.) The paint is Krylon's Fusion, specifically for plastic with little or no preparation; it seems to work exactly as stated!
