Windshield
|
|
|
The windshield seen at right was purchased for use on my previous NH80 "Aero" scooter. I removed it before selling the scooter, because I had seen the advantage of a windshield. The cost of the windshield (July 25, 2005) was a little less than $60 delivered; but as of August 17, 2005 the seller's Website is no longer active. The spacing of the mirrors on the Elite is several inches wider than the Aero, but I was able to rearrange the mountings to fit, as seen below. |

Those mounting clamps were flipped over (reversed) to place the vertical bar outside the bolts, adding about 2 inches to the width of the mounts. Then the mounting bar had to be moved as far down as possible. With the mirror
clamp also reversed, the mounts are barely far enough apart to fit the
CH125's mirrors. Note the close clearance between the mounting "L"
bar and the dashboard. Close? Yep, but it fits okay. |

| Substituting longer
"L" bars would allow the windshield to be raised another 2 or
3 inches without leaving a gap between it and the Honda windscreen, but
the present position works okay for my height, putting my eyes just below
the upper edge of the windshield. After riding for a few weeks I have gotten used to the top edge of the windhield, and, as with my bi-focal glasses, I no longer notice it while driving. |

The windshield makes a good appearance, and is highly effective in keeping road dirt and bugs away from the rider's face. In cold weather (below 60F) it also greatly improves comfort by reducing wind-chill. In warmer temperatures, the windshield allows me to open the full-face bubble on my helmet for that great fresh air feeling, while still avoiding pebbles and bugs in the teeth. The
supplier from whom I purchased this screen seems to be defunct, but a
"Google" search and a check of eBay listings should locate aftermarket
windshields. |
