Side Stand Replacement
As I have mentioned elsewhere (several times!) the center stand on this scooter (and the NH80 I used to own) is truly irritating.

The obvious answer is a side stand, and Honda did offer one when the CH-125 was built. Unfortunately, someone managed to rip the stand off this scooter -- literally ripped it off -- pulling the base plate welds loose, tearing the threads out of the weld-nuts and bending the surrounding sheetmetal.

After some searching I found a side stand through a vendor I located on eBay. The stand arrived while we were on the road last fall, and I soon discovered the damage would prevent installing it.

When a new business opened nearby here in Chattanooga, offering repairs for motorcycles, ATVs, and scooters, I spoke to them about the problem.

They looked, and agreed that it could be fixed for a moderate fee. This (Left) is the finished repair.

A reinforcement was welded on the base plate, the stripped weld-nuts drilled out or replaced, and the stand mounted.

As you can see here and in the photo above, the side stand itself appears to be unused.

A minor but vital project still to be done: Coat all of those rusted areas with Loctite's Extend to passivate the rust and prevent farther damage.

What an improvement!
Let me assure you; arthritic geezers do not enjoy heaving a 225 pound scooter onto its center stand.
It's a cinch to reach back with a toe to flip the side stand down, and when you are ready to roll, snapping it back up is just as easy.

Knowing that the supporting structure had been damaged, I will exercise caution when parking, and never put my weight on the side stand.
